We started working on Last Ferry at Jon’s home studio in Portland shortly before things shut down in 2020; we were there to play a handful of shows in the Pacific Northwest and decided to record some songs while we were there. The progression to a more collaborative creative process over the last ten years has been a natural and effortless one, the way different elements and themes, music and words rise to the surface and interact with the larger living world continues to be an unfolding mystery for both of us.

This Guy Clark song from his 1999 release Cold Dog Soup has always been a favorite and is one we love playing live. It was our maiden voyage into recording remotely and one of the first things Jon played on after injuring both of his hands before things shut down with Covid. While recovering his dexterity on guitar he would play what he could play, in this case a Moog synthesizer before going back to overdub guitar parts. Like most all of our songs it continues to evolve and open up every time we play it.
